Candidates who have failed the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at the Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply to the Flying Branch.

Candidates who were admitted to an earlier course at the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Officers' Training Academy, Chennai, and Officers Training Academy Gaya but were removed on grounds of indiscipline are ineligible to apply.

Candidates convicted on any criminal charges and those still stuck in a criminal case are not eligible to apply.

2024 AFCAT selection process

Candidates must be aware of the following steps in the AFCAT selection process in addition to being eligible for the exam:

  • Online Exam: There are objective-style questions in this phase. The exam is administered in two stages: the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) and the AFCAT. The AFCAT assesses a candidate's verbal, numerical, general awareness, and reasoning skills, while the EKT evaluates their technical knowledge in the relevant fields.
  • AFSB Interview: The interview process for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) is the second step. Psychological testing, group tests, and interviews make up the AFSB interview. The AFSB interview evaluates a candidate's fit for the Air Force and potential for promotion to officer status.
  • Medical Assessment: The medical examination is the third step. Those who pass the AFSB interview are invited to the medical exam. To determine whether a candidate is physically and psychologically qualified to serve as an officer in the Indian Air Force, a medical examination is performed.
  • Final Merit List: The candidate's standing after three rounds of consideration is determined by their performance. Candidates are chosen according to the number of openings available, and a merit list is created based on the candidate's overall performance.

Candidates must adequately prepare for the online exam and the AFSB interview due to the stringent AFCAT Selection Process. Additionally, they should confirm that they are mentally and physically capable of serving as Air Force officers and fulfilling all eligibility requirements.
