Detailed Eligibility Criteria for ACC 2024

1. Age Criteria

The age requirements for ACC are specific and must be rigorously followed by all candidates. As of 2024, the age requirements are:

  • Candidates must be at least 20 years old to join the course.
  • The maximum age for candidates is 27 years.
  • These age limits ensure candidates have appropriate service experience while being young enough to complete the intensive training at ACC.

2. Educational Qualifications

Educational qualifications play an essential role in the ACC eligibility criterion. To be considered for admission, candidates must have completed a specific level of formal education. The prerequisites are as follows.

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board or university.
  • Additional Qualifications: While not essential, additional qualifications such as higher education degrees can be helpful throughout the selection process.
  • Educational qualifications ensure students have the academic background to succeed in ACC training.

3. Service Requirements

Because ACC is intended to serve soldiers, satisfying the military criteria is critical. The conditions for 2024 are:

  • Candidates must have served for at least two years in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.
  • Current Status: Applicants must be serving and have a strong service record.
  • References: Candidates need references from their superior officers. These recommendations are based on the candidate's performance, behaviour, and potential for leadership.

Service standards guarantee that candidates have appropriate military experience and understand the spirit and discipline of the armed services.

4. Physical Fitness Standards

A military job requires a high level of fitness. The ACC has strict physical fitness standards that candidates must achieve. It includes:

Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit according to the requirements established by military medical authorities. It encompasses general health, eyesight, hearing, and the absence of chronic disorders.

Candidates must complete physical fitness tests that involve running, push-ups, sit-ups, and other exercises to assess their endurance and strength.

Height and Weight: Candidates must meet the height and weight requirements, which vary by age and gender.

Physical fitness standards ensure that candidates can meet the physical demands of military training and service.

5. Psychological Assessment

Military leaders must be psychologically strong. ACC offers a psychological assessment as part of its eligibility criteria.

Psychological examinations assess candidates' mental resilience, problem-solving abilities, and leadership potential.

Interviews: Personal interviews are used to examine a candidate's motivation, attitude, and suitability for a career as an officer.

Psychological assessments help identify candidates with the mental strength and leadership qualities necessary for military service.

ACC Written Exam

The establishment of ACC was determined to follow in the footsteps of NDA; however, admittance into ACC was confined to troops serving in the ranks. Greater focus was placed on academics at ACC, emphasizing their development of officer-like traits. The Army Cadet College Wing prepares troops from the regular Army, navy, and air force to serve as officers in the Indian Army. The ACC Exam feeds into the Indian Military Academy; their achievements are visible at all levels.

The ACC has been redesignated as the Siachen Battalion at the IMA. Admission to ACC is determined by a written test followed by a selection process by the Services Selection Board. ACC has operated for 80 years and has produced several notable alums. The initial course at IMA, consisting of 40 GCs, included 15 from the former Kitchener College, which later became the ACC.

  • The Military Training Directorate administers the ACC (me & II) Written Exam twice a year to select applicants for the Indian Army.
  • The ACC test consists of Stage 1 (written) and Stage 2 (SSB Interview).
