NDA entrance exam
The National Defense Academy or NDA, as it’s more popularly known, isanelite Joint Services Academy for the threeServices of the Indian Armed Forces – Army, Navy and Air force. Eligibility Criteria to appear for the Entrance Exams:
Age Requirement: Minimum 16.5 years, and maximum19 years as on the 1st day of the month the course is due to begin.
Educational Qualification: Class 12 Pass for the Army while the Air Force and Navy requires Class 12 Pass with Physics and Math. You could also apply in the year in which you would be appearing for the Class 12 exam.
When is the Entrance Examination held?
The entrance examination for the NDA is held twice a year usually in the months of April and September.
How is the test conducted?
The written examination conducted by the Union Public Services Commission, or UPSC, is followed by intensive Intelligence and Personality tests.
The written exam consists of 2 sections; Mathematics carries 300 marks and General Ability 600 Marks. Each paper is of 2 to 2& ½ hours duration and all questions are objective in nature. One has to be very careful while answering the papers as incorrect or wrong answers will invite Negative marking.
Intelligence and Personality test conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB)assesses the examinees’ personality, intelligence and mental aptitude. The tests include group discussions, psychological testing, team work through ground / physical exercises and tests.
