NDA or National Defence Academy Exam takes place twice every year. It is a Joint Services examination to join Indian Armed Forces. Candidates who pass NDA Exam get the chance to seek admission to NDA Academy in Kolkata or any other place. It is the firstacademy that provides training for Air Force, Navy and Army. Candidates willing to join Indian Navy as technical officer can also seek admission to Naval Academy.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA Exam

Candidates older than 16 years of age are eligible for NDA exam. Candidates have to pass 10+2 pattern from any renowned university. If a candidate is willing to join Air Force or Navy, then he must have Physics and Mathematics as subjects in 10+2 pattern school. There is a special criterion for reservation in NDA. The fees for SC and ST candidates and son of OR’s, NCO’s and JCO’s for NDA exam is nil. Aside this, there are no other exemptions in NDA – neither in eligibility criteria nor in exam pattern. Every one will get equal chance irrespective of religion, community and caste.

Exam Pattern of NDA

Candidates have to apply for NDA Exam through online means from UPSC official website. Written exam of NDA consists of two tests of two and a half hours each. UPSC conducts both the tests on a single day by giving a short break in between. In NDA exam, there is negative marking and qualifying marks is determined by UPSC. All questions in this exam are in MCQ form. Question papers of this exam come in two languages – English and Hindi.
