A career in defence is the dream of many. Aspirants work hard to achieve this goal. However, the CDS examination process is tough and not many are able to crack the selection process. Thus, it is always good to take CDS training prior to the examination.

A written examination is held to judge the subject skills. While the candidates who wish to join the Officers Training Academy in Chennai do not have to give the Mathematics exam, while those appearing for INA, IMA and AFA have to clear the Mathematics exam too.
A total of 100 questions each of English, Elementary Mathematics and General Knowledge are required to be answered by the INA, IMA and AFA aspirants. The examination is of 2 hours duration each for every subject and a total of 300 questions have to be answered. These include 100 each for Mathematics and 120 each for English and General Knowledge.
120 questions each of English and General Knowledge have to be solved in 4 hours for the OTA examination. There is negative marking in the examination as well.
Candidates who are able to clear the written examination appear for the SSB interview. A merit list of successful candidates based on the number of posts is prepared.
The SSB interviews are spread over a period of 5 days in which Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test are conducted. The success rate in the interviews is fairly high for candidates who have taken coaching from Institutes like Siegwald Academy.\
Tests like picture perception and description are done in this arena. The basic idea is to judge the psychological quotient of the candidates.
This section features a psychology test, group testing task, individual lecture and personal interview.
Post all these stages, physical verification of documents and medical test of the candidates are conducted. Candidates who are able to successfully clear all these stages are then enrolled for the training session, on the completion of which, the successful candidates become proud officers of Indian Defence Services.
